I'm confused about the stock room supervisors post? You said she was always put in the stock room or cleaning and made them sound like bad things she didn't enjoy.
If being in the stock room was a problem for your daughter then why did she apply for the supervisors post. Maybe that's why she has been in there so much.
If she has never discussed that she doesn't like these roles then maybe that is why she is being given them.0 -

I think she is in the stockroom when she is not cleaning. I think she probably likes working in the stockroom but they do not think she is capable (apart from when it suits them).0 -

She applied for a supervisor's post and there were 2 ( one in the stock room and one on the shop floor) My point is if she is capable of being in the stockroom all the time then why was she not good enough for the job? I think she is good at the stock room but would appreciate being on the shop floor sometimes ( as she used to before this new manager arrived) She also said the manager interviewed the boy who got the supervisors job and one of the other supervisors interviewed all the outside applicants. Then apparently the manager just gave the boy the job without even discussing the other applicants. Do you think I should maybe send an e-mail to their head office on her behalf?0 -

Absolutely no way. I can understand why you are upset, and naturally, you are protective of your daughter but you can't fight this battle for her, she has to do it herself.
She needs to deal with each grievance separately too. It does sound like there a million and things wrong with the shop management but writing it down in bullet points and dealing with each one individually would possibly make it easier for you daughter to deal with.0 -

Yes I think you are right and she should write to the manager first presumambly?0 -
I agree with Caroline73 as it could make things worse. The company may not appreciate internal issues being discussed with a 3rd party. We all know that lots of people discuss their work but if it came out there may be something in employment contract that may give grounds for dismissal.
OP, I think your daughter should think about what she wants to bring up, if anything at all. Does she want to address how she is being treated now, the recuitment process or both. It goes without saying that there will be reprecussions which may be good or bad.
Your daughter may not find it easy to prove that she is being treated differently. The more examples she has the better. Would it be possible to prove that she was hassled when others that were off during the snow were not?0 -
There is a world of difference between different cleaning tasks - one MIGHT concievably be asked to wash a FEW dishes once in a while or sweep a standard type floor once in a while - MAYBE....but there is no way anyone should EVER in a month of Sundays be expected to do things like cleaning toilets or similar type cleaning unless they actually ARE specifically employed as a cleaner - that is just "taking the michael".
In that position I would sympathise with the management about how dirty the place was/how difficult it can be sometimes to find cleaners - and leave the cleaning for a cleaner to do (even if that meant it was never done). I'd just studiously find some of MY type of work to do and ignore the cleaning - as it would be none of my business what happened about that. I'd just make sure I was far too busy with MY type of work for anyone to even consider me for any cleaners' duties in the place.0 -

Unfortunately when she goes work as she did on Monday cleaning is written next to her name so that was her task for the day.0 -
Buy her a boiler suit and some wellies.
Then she can just turn up, smile sweetly and say 'I assume I'm on !!!!!! shovelling again'.0 -
Health and safety? Doing that job she should be issued with suitable protective coveralls not be doing it in clothes which she has contributed too. Hopefully she can find somewhere else, preferably just in time to leave snotty manageress in the lurch on a busy weekend. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
