The Economy is a Daffodil Bulb, apparently...

On Newsnight tonight, a share dealer says that you don't have to wait for the green shoots...
...because, like a daffodil, the bulb will grow and gain strength underground, and by the time the green shoots are seen the hard times are already over...
What a pleasant spring image to bring a halt to everyones depression.
Buy, buy, buy.

Its a sad state of affairs when ''love is....'' is thus replaced.0

The first 15 minutes of News Night was VERY bullish tonight.
It almost managed to put a smile on my face.
I will probably wait a few weeks/months before I make that kind of commitment to joy mind you.0 -
perhaps he meant mushroom , in that we are all in the dark under a blanket of the smelly stuff.Have you tried turning it off and on again?0

A lot of my daffodils have come up 'blind' this year. **
Is this an omen?
(Oh no, Sell daffodil bulbs - sell ! sell ! sell !)

I didn't see it, but it's nice to hear that the BBC are giving airtime to someone with a positive view (whatever his motives might be). I've virtually given up watching BBC News as I find it just makes me feel negative.0

And so you log on here?
TBH, I find it a bit of a worrying, but normal, attitude. Ostrich like. Ignoring news, good or bad, doesn't make it not happen, it judst means you can't exploit good opportunities and avoid reported hazards.
But yeah, I switch off a lot now too:o0 -
Would have been better if he'd described it as a tulip - that would have amused me, rather than leaving me feeling he's a plonker."Mrs. Pench, you've won the car contest, would you like a triumph spitfire or 3000 in cash?" He smiled.
Mrs. Pench took the money. "What will you do with it all? Not that it's any of my business," he giggled.
"I think I'll become an alcoholic," said Betty.0 -

Yeah - "Buy tulips! Buy! Buy!" would have a bit more historical resonance, wouldn't it?

Good job you didn't - the last word went to a man who said we're in for ten years of stagnation, like Japan.
I had to laugh at the 'daffodil' comment. Who was that guy exactly? I also didn't think much of his economic predictions being based on wot his mates dahn the pub or dahn the football were saying...'Never keep up with Joneses. Drag them down to your level. It's cheaper.' Quentin Crisp0
