    Depending on who your bank is you dont need the device to access your account and to buy stuff, im with rbs and ive not used it yet to buy stuff, the only time ive used it is when i was asked to use it when i transfered some money to another account

    Yeah it's not designed to help with card purchases online (the "innovations" in this area are Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode), only with online banking.
