Quick question on redundancy

Say for example, you started work in 2000 (April) and I was 20 years old and you were made redundant in January 2009 (27 years old)- my DOB 18/06/81, technically how many weeks notice do they need to have given? I was under the impression it would be 8 years in my case but I have been told 6.5 weeks only, is this correct?

Assuming that you meant 8 weeks rather than years, I'd agree with you - the statutary minimum notice period is one week per full year worked, so 8 weeks in your case.

i think you would only get half a weeks redundancy pay for being 20/21
Older than that up to 41 years of age it is one week, older than that it is
one and a half week

I have not checked the links for accuracy but what the posts say is,

Notice 8 (PILON or work notice)

Redundancy 6.5

These are 2 seperate calculations for any payments due

Makes me mad that does as i worked full time for 14 years but only get redundacny on part time that i have done for last 3. Sorry bit off topic.

My understanding is that you would be due to both!
ie: you would be given 8 weeks notice (or a payment in lieu of notice) plus 6.5 weeks pay as a redundancy termination payment.
