Organic veg boxes - quantities?

I'm thinking about trying out the veggie boxes from Riverford or similar companies but can't find any information about how much of each veg is in each box. Could someone who buys these regularly please give me a rough idea? Thanks. I would want enough veg for two adults, we're not completely veggie but we eat a LOT of vegetables - at least seven or eight different ones every day if I can manage it.
Thanks for any help you can give! FF

I've never used riverford (i'm up in manchester so use limited resources), but if this is the right company, this webpage shows what they have in each box each week - should give you a good idea of what box to get:

I've been trying to locate someone in my area to deliver Organic Fruit & Veg Boxes. I've not been successfull
North Staffs - anyone know a good company?Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

if you go to the bigran website (http://www.bigbarn.co.uk/) you can put in your postcode and it will find the nearest suppliers for you

Hmmmph, not a box delivery in sight (or within 50 miles to be precise!!!)
Thanks anywaySometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -
If it's any consolation, the box scheme I use isn't listed on BigBarn. I actually found my local one (Butterbys) as somebody on here has a mother who lives in Durham, and she recommended them!
Hopefully someone with a North Staffs connection will be along soon........Here I go again on my own....0 -
frugalfairy I get the riverford boxes for two of us. I started with the large but it was massive and although we are also massive veg eaters and juicers, it took a lot of getting through. At the moment I am mostly getting the mini. I grow my own (seed and bean) sprouts on a continuous basis during the hungry gap months so the mini is quite enough for us. I also get the fruit box and milk and eggs. I shall increase box size as more green veg kick in. During summer I may get the small box plus the salad bag, I don`t know yet0

Hi frugal fairy, have just lumped my large Riverford box upstairs so I can let you know sizes (guess I could have jotted notes downstairs, and then would only have needed to carry up a bit of paper - silly me!)
One large cauliflower
Large bag of red Russian kale
Bag of potatoes (about the same size as regular supermarket bag)
4 med/largeparsnips
3 leeks (noted as long leeks on the riverford contents!)
one tundra cabbage (green and veiny, bit thicker leaves than savoy)
2 small/med swedes
2 med avocados
1 green pepper
Large bag of carrots
Box of mushroom (about same as regular supermarket punnet)
Bag of onions (same as reg supermarket size)
There are 6 of us in the family, and I usually have to buy salad stuff (though we have had lettuce in the boxes over the past few weeks), and I get an enormous sack of potatoes from the local agricultural college. But unless anyone is desperate for a particular veg the box usually does us! We generally only use frozen peas and sweetcorn and tinned tomatoes as a supplement to this amount.
Hope that this helps
You can always email Riverford, they have always been very helpful in the past when I've had queries.GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -
Brilliant, thank you all so much! Special thanks to mummysaver for breaking her neck lugging veggies upstairs for me
Sounds like either the medium or large would be about right for us.
Thanks to all! FF0
