Air travel with pram - how to insure?

Hi
I am travelling to Spain for a fortnight and am planning to take my son's pram (a Bugaboo which cost £800). I am planning to take it in a 'proper' Bugaboo Travel bag and check it into the hold at check in. However, I am aware that prams do get broken as they are thrown around by baggage handlers so want to insure it.
Should I look for a travel insurance that will cover me or get it added to my house insurance? Is the decision purely down to prce or is there anything else that I should be thinking about?
I don't want to buy a cheap stroller to take because my baby is only 2 months old and we are going to be in the mountains so need a sturdy pram!
Many thanks in advance.

A travel insurance policy will have a limit of between £150 and £300 an item. In addition Travel Insurers do not pay claims on a "New for Old Basis"
Your home insurance will probably have a limit of £1500, however it would depend on whether the item is classed as a personal effect as the definition of this would vary between Insurers.
I would suggest you ring your Home Insurers and explain the situation, advise them the item may be transported in the hold. If they confirm its covered make sure you take the persons full name and note the date and time in case there is a dispute in the future0 -
Thanks very much for the reply. I will do that.0
