Help with travel insurance claim please

Hi
Last month my wife badly broke her right wrist during ski holiday. We are of course insured and i'm not expecting any problems with the claiming the medical expenses.

However, we have a 6 months old baby, my wife is still on maternity leave and because of the accident we had to take a temporary nanny because my wife practically couldn't not take care of our baby on her own - no lifting, no changing, no putting her in the pram etc. For 4 weeks after the surgery she was in cast and nanny was the only option for us as grandparents not living in the UK and i had to be at work of course.

This costt us £1500 so i was wondering whether you think we have a case to claim that from our travel insurance? that was an expense that was directly linked to the accident for which we are covered.

any advice will be hugely appreciated.

cheers

Asi

The travel insurance covers specific "Perils" (Things you are covered for), the costs of the medical treatment are covered under the medical section.

The policy will not cover "Consequential" costs such as the nanny.

There is a chance that the personal accident part of the policy may cover a small amount for "Temporary Partial Disablement" but most do not include this.
