I just seen a 40gb Ipod go for £147 on ebay!

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=91365&item=5736913068&rd=1

You get the best bargains when items close in the early morning, because far less people are there to bid on them.

That sells for £260+ easy in most places, somebody has got themselves a bargain there.

No they didn't, somebody just got ripped off. Quoting from the auction:

"U can have a brand new ipod for the price of this auction and an extra twenty pounds that you must pay when you get the link"

So for £147 they bought a link to a pyramid scheme.

    Dammit!

I usually find those, but that one was camoflauged.

Will be extra careful in the future!

That was well hidden. Is there anything that the buyer can do?

If it hadnt ended I'd have been tempted myself to put a bid in.

The worst thing about it is the time of year. That iPod is probably someones christmas present.
  • The buyer should really have a word with themself for being so stupid..

    1) they seller has a feed back of 7 and a Power Seller badge on the auction...

    2) on the auction for the negative feedback he lists 11 feedbacks from past buyers when he doesn't have 11 feedbacks to boast of.

It is difficult to spot that it is a link. But your suspicion should be raised by all the waffle and tech specs listed in the auction - this is usually done to mask things out. Lazy buyers won't bother reading the small print.

And as Gypsy says, a look at previous auctions shows that the seller is iffy to say the least.
  • · Any questions you have prior to bidding will be answered - please dont bid then ask..

    · Sales are final and payment expected within 48 hours otherwise negative feedback shall be left

    · All sales are final. No returns. Contact Apple for warranty issues

Positve Feedback will always be left if the same is done for us.

Oh dear! :( My heart goes out to that poor person if they didn't realize :(

funny thing with this is the rest of the auction was the small print and the link part was in big print.

I always do a ctrl F and look for 'link' and 'website' to be double sure

Isn't escrow a boon then. You would have thought someone would have notified the bidders but I suppose it is technicalities.
  • Couldn't let this happen:

    Dear jimihenry,

For gods sake dont pay for that iPOD...its a link to a site where you can supposedly get it for £20 but its a massive scam mate, read the print in the listing: "U can have a brand new ipod for the price of this auction and an extra twenty pounds that you must pay when you get the link"

You won't get your iPod, believe me!

    Thank you,

    Reply today:

    Dear orange6969,

Thanks for the message mate, I was just about to pay for it!!!! How did you find out it was a scam? Cheers Jim

    Thank you,

Ok, so its not much, no doubt a second chance offer went out and someone else got duped, but I feel a little better. :) I email a lot of winning bidders about this but first reply back i've ever had..... ::)
