Hi,

Im with Ebico and recently had a new meter installed (token to key) and since then the charges have more than doubled (much more).

I'm trying to understand what each display means but can't seem to find anything on the net to help - Im worried that they have added a debt I don't owe as I had alot of letters from scottish southern claiming I owed money when I dont (im prepayment so its always paid up front)

I told them this and they never came back to me so i assumed that had sorted it out, does anybody know what each display means so that I can get this sorted without having to rely on them telling me what they want me to know ?

Many thanks
:D I understand ALOT more than I care to let on :D

Have you tried searching the forum for meter codes or similar - I don't have prepay but have seen several posts where people have gone though the codes you can scroll through.

I have also read that it is more than possible to run up a debt on a prepay meter if it doesn't get updated. I think key meters are better because this doesn't happen.

Edit: Here's one not sure how helpful it is.

hiya, thanks for that, I have tried searching the threads but can't find any display explanations, im getting really worried now, Ive gone for 6-7 pounds p/week to about £30!!!!!!!!

I've just put my key in and rechecked the display and its saying there is no debt - i have absolutely no idea!!!!!!! LOL

It is more than likely that when you had the token meter, you were paying old prices. Ie. When there was a price rise, the meter man didn't come to your house to update the price on your token meter, so infact, you have been getting much cheaper elec while you had your old meter. The key meters update automatically, without the need for somebody to call at your house. So although it feels like the price has doubled, it hasn't really.
