I've noticed a 'Display Options' box at the bottom of the page when viewing threads.
Very useful as I can choose to view threads by thread start time, so I can just look at new threads.
Does anyone know if this can be set as a default option?
Every time I log on or go to another forum it reverts to 'view by last post' so I have to keep changing it.

Click on user cp ----> click on edit options----> scroll down to thread display options and you will get a choice of how to view threads.
From here http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/faq.html?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_vb_threadedmodeWhat are the various thread display options? When viewing a thread, you will be able to view the thread from a choice of four modes.- Linear Mode (Oldest First) - In this mode, posts are displayed chronologically from oldest to newest. Posts are shown in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously.
- Linear Mode (Newest First) - This is the same as the above mode, except that posts are ordered in an opposite way (newest first).
- Threaded Mode - In this mode, a tree is shown along with every post. This tree allows you to see the relationship each post has to others, in terms of who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time.
- Hybrid Mode - This mode is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed like in the threaded mode, but multiple posts are displayed simultaneously like in the linear modes.
If not - sorry...move along...nothing to see here
EDIT - Actually - I'm not sure if that will work for what you wanted because it just talks about newest posts, not newest threads. But I'll leave it on anyway in case it's of use to anyone elseI'm a little angelBUT A WHOLE LOTTA DEVIL

I'm quite happy to have the threads displayed with the ones with the newest posts first. However, I would love to be able to tell from the forum list which threads are new, and which were started ages ago. The "last post" column tells us not only the name of the most recent poster, but the time when they posted. Is there any way the "thread/thread starter" column could be similar, and give us the date & time when the thread was started, as well as the name of the OP?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0
