The thing is he lives in Newcastle and she lives here in the south west with her kid. The plan was as far as I can decipher for them to sell the house here and her to move up the country, so I guess if its all gone pear-shaped she will stay down here. I don't know really I'm purely speculating as it makes it a bit easier to accept if there is a legitimate reason...0

Some years ago I was on the other side of the fence. Following the death of my mother, it was agreed that we would sell our house, my father would sell his house and move down and live with us in a new larger house.
He sold, moved in with us in our existing smallish house, but we couldn't sell ours. However dad was getting fed up of waiting, and after we had found a buyer who had paid for a survey, dad announced he'd changed his mind and wanted to live on his own, so he went out and v. quickly bought a bungalow close by.
Wasn't happy about dad's decision and letting people down who'd spent money, but it was his life. So had to tell agent we were taking house off market as no longer needed to sell.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
The same thing happened to me when I was trying to buy my first flat. The seller dropped out the day before we were supposed to exchange contracts. What made me mad was not getting a clear reason as to why it had happened. After this happened, it was amazing how many stories came out from friends about similar things happening to them. Sadly, it's part of the way our system works in this country...0
