Why use Landi or light in the box?

If there was something like this available in the UK, would that be better than China?

I would prefer something UK based, but I know that Landy have built up a good reputation so that might sway me until reports of the UK based company came through, IFYSWIM????

    Ideally, around £250 or below.

I've actually been thinking about this. How do these companies sell a product so cheap? If they use 100% silk, then they can get this at very low prices. The cheapest I can get dupion for example is around £8.00m, heavy crepe satin about £14.00 Then there is the labour. I'm not even going to think what their machinists are paid.
Lets take Alan Hannah dress Martinique. http://www.onewedding.co.uk/wedding-dress/alan-hannah/martinique/

I could make something very similar for around 1/3 of the RRP price in 100% pure silk. Not necessarily Duchess but something as nice. I say very similar because copying it will be in breach of the copyright laws. There are ways around this of course, but the chinese don't have as tight rules over there so can get away with these "impersonations"

All I can say is to buy one of these gowns, they either pay the staff very little or get the fabric very cheap. Possibly both. I'm certainly not posting to tout, I just wanted to get an idea of how many ladies use these companies to get their dream dress and how these companies can sell at such very low prices.

..which is why those companies exist - as has been debated on here before a lot of the cost saving is cutting out the middlemen and quality of fabric.

however if you buy from a high street chain many of the workers ar in china and are payed low wages so for many of us itsthe same as buying from asda

But, if you could buy a gown made from quality fabrics for a little more, wouldn't you rather do that?
