There was a post about it a while ago in DT. Was from the breakdown on statistics.gov.uk I think.0 -

no problem - i posted it the other day but it was laughed at as it was innacurate
even though it takes stats from nearly 30 million people.
Mitchaa has quoted it many a time but it's ignored as it doesn't fit peoples HPC agenda0 -
Dont worry, plenty of purple-rinsers on deaths door around here... just wait till the boomer generation expires and we will see what happens to house prices!
Area- south west.
On semi-cottage went down the road for just over 250 at auction with 0.5 acres, one on for sale in a local village with 0.75 acres (semi 4 bed again) for 250K.
And yes, those are real savings figures my old dear! Now get back to knitting jumpers made out of matted cat fur... I bet your carpets stink!
I just think cats are a pointless pet. Why not get a decent pet, like a dog?
I have a dog and cats. Neither are pointless because they are living the life they are best suited to in my home. My cats mean that I have never had to take on Rentokil services for outside barns. They keep rats and mice away and have a lovely life being free when wanted, but curling up inside in front of the fire when they so choose. The dog roams around in the garden and then gets hours of freedom over farmland. She is fit, happy and doing what a dog should be.
I live in the SW, and the prices you quote above make me think you don't live anywhere that is particularly attractive all told!!!
A local village council estate is selling privately at those prices with gardens far larger then you mention and the period houses in the village are more like £400/500 mark or above!! So I think you need to curtail your smug remarks towards other posters, as I am not impressed.
Your carpets may not stink, but your attitude does!

I've not seen it...or not remembered it.
I found it really interesting. Interesting that City earnings were lower than I thought when averaged. Looking at the local area earnings is quite depressing though. In fact, I feel a bit richer for reading it.0 -

I thought it was a bit less than that, it will be once the shake out over the next year goes, as jobs get scarce, and tradesmen (so they think), have to discount to get work. Reckon ovetime as firms cut hours and other bonuses will get stripped out, etc. I think we find that this form of the statistic goes well under the £30k mark, the last survey I heard has the average at around £26k last year, which I thought was more on the mark for the whole of GB.
So if we said 3 x £30k + 5% that's not even an average price of £94376.84. Result 3rd world economy, as debts explode, state benefits explode, taxation revenue evaporates, and infrastructure collaspes.
Oh well I'm off to stick the kettle on.0 -

Why doesnt it?
Its the Median you are looking at I take it, I.e what the average person is actually earning?
It's actually £17520 here then.0
