council tax

I pay Council tax by direct debit each month for £40 (single person). I checked my bank account online and see that the last time I have been debited was on the 26th of January. Looks like they missed out February (so far). Anyway should I do a pre-emptive move or sit and wait awhile, and see if this is rectified from their side?

Thanks

As others have said. You should, sometime around now, get your bill for the coming year through. That will give you your direct debit payment schedule.

The first payment is in April each year, followed by nine more payments in May to January. The total bill for the year is split over these ten payments, so no DD in Feb or March.

Look for the letter they sent. you should always keep the council tax letters ... it should state when they will take the money.

Thanks so much for the replies. I do have the letter stored away, just did not realise the fact about 10 months instead of 12.

Maybe because they don't earn anything, and don't claim benefits? (Well enclosed ones don't, apostolistic ones sometimes do so maybe the rules differ?) I think there are only about one and half thousand monks and nuns in the UK now anyway (Anglican and Catholic, I've no idea about other faiths) so it's not as if there are hundreds of thousands of people claiming religious discounts.

Dim Blonde I tried the civic offices but they were busy and I am awaiting a reply. As for your comments about sending idiots into the big wide world: I am 22, a student, homeowner with a boyfriend and well paid job, think before you speak.

I have no idea what your post is about but ...

What has your age got to do with anything?
What does "being a student" tell us about you?
What does having a boy friend tell us about you?
... and some jobs are well paid but for a reason.

and who is the Dim Blonde other than an insulting stereotype.

    Love you lots
