Free Withdrawls abroad

i'm going to australia for a year and heard that nationwide is offering free withdrawls of 300 pounds a day anywhere in the world.
are there any other banks with same deal but better extras?
also anyone know best ways for dealing with my money when i'm in Oz, whether it be open up an australian account and transfer the money over electronically? or the ways you did if you went?
i thought of maybe using the free withdrawls and putting into an oz account in cash, save having to pay a percentage to get the bank to transfer.
Thanks

If you are on a working holiday visa then you can open a bank account over there with minimum ID in 90 days of ariving (after 90 days you need lots of ID).
One thing you will notice on Aussie banks is charges! ANZ offered a free account when I was there which doesn't pay interest - this has now gone up to $2/month. Have a look for any that offer free accounts as most charge $5-10 per month.
You also have a certain number of free transactions (either ATM withdrawls or card purchases) before you have to pay for them each month (again different per bank). You also pay to take money from another bank's ATM.
Best advice - get yourself a Nationwide account before you go and load it up woth money. You can withdraw at any ATM with no charge and make as many transactions per month with no fees.
If you are working out there then you will need an Aussie bank account. Have a look around the big ones to see if they have any free accounts (ANZ, Westpac, National, Commonwealth) as you will have less trouble trying to find an ATM from those banks.0
