negotiating after putting down deposit
Options
Hi,
I've put a deposit down on a car, £400, im happy with the final price of the car but i would have liked some extras thrown in, specifically an extended warranty and or the rear tyres replacing as there near finished.
Is my position pretty crap for this having put down a deposit on the car?
I have yet to see it and have arranged with the dealer to pick it up at the start of April, could suggesting picking it earlier, ie the end of march encourage the dealer to agree to the extras do you think, as he'll be getting my money earlier and around the time they have targets to meet?
Thansk for any info.

i would consider that the deposit is for the done deal, if you try to change it and walk away they can keep your deposit
this is just my opinion though0 -
You haven't seen the car?
I agree though deal has been done. Think you will need to use a bit of charm but don't be surprised if he refuses.0 -
Yes your position is pretty crap but if you don't ask you don't get.
Offering to take it in March may swing it as its quarter end too.
However for all intents and purposes it is a done deal, the items you mentioned will cost the dealer money, costs that they hadn't previosly accounted for when commiting to the deal. So don't be surprised if they say no.
However if the rear tyres aren't legal i think it would be reasonable to ask for them to be replaced.0 -
The idea of putting a deposit on a car is for us to take it off sale and turn away any further interest in the car. I think it's a bit silly putting a deposit down on a car that you haven't seen. Hmmm...0

If you haven't seen the car, how do you know the rear tyres are,as you say, near finished. He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0
