What's this about?

The application fees charged when applying for British citizenship are rising on 6 April. If you're planning on applying for citizenship in the future, consider getting your application in quickly, and you could save up to £65 per adult (more if your children are applying too).

Which are rising?

The fees increases differ depending on who you are, and how you're applying.

• Naturalisation fee for individuals: Up from £655 to £720

• Naturalisation fee for couples applying at the same time: Up from £735 to £850

• Registration: Up from £480 to £540

• Registration of a child/children under 18: Up from £400 for one or more children from the same family, to £460 plus £50 per additional child.


As many adults (not children) need to attach proof of passing the Knowledge of Life test to their application if you haven't already taken it you'll need to book this sharpish. There's a seven day waiting period between booking and the test date and tests themselves can be up four weeks ahead.
