Thanks for all the advice.

Digging around since I posted, I've found that my PC also came with Firefox & Safari, so I've got 3 browsers (including I.E.) to play with.

I've been using I.E. for two years so that will be full of cookies! I'll therefore look at using Safari for cashback sites. From what you've said, it looks like cookies don't track across from one browser to another.

I can then continue using I.E. for day-to-day stuff, although after your recommendations, I'll look at using Firefox or Opera instead.

Can you tell me what are the advantages of FF & Opera over I.E. ? Thanks.

At the moment the "shortcut to tiscali broadband" icon on my desktop opens directly into I.E. So does my hotmail. Presumably I could look at my tiscali & hotmail e-mails in Firefox? Would I set Firefox as my default browser?

Thanks again for all your help.:T :A

Security really, plus I find them faster than IE.

Just so you know, Safari 4 is out. It's still in beta, though it's working fine on my Mac.

I have to admit though, that I've never been a fan of Safari on Windows (and I say this as a Mac guy); I'd rather use Firefox, Google Chrome (which I forgot to mention earlier) or Opera instead.

It's up to you though. Use whatever you prefer.

Thanks guys. That's really helpful. :D I'll have a look at Safari 4 and Google Chrome before making a final decision on which combination to go for.

I did a quick trial this afternoon, using the BBC news site as a comparison, on I.E., Safari & Firefox. All 3 browsers worked fine on my PC, although the graphics and words were a lot sharper on I.E. Don't know why? Firefox was the worst of the three for sharpness. Does it get better if you make it your default browser?

I'm not sure why stuff would look less sharp on Firefox and Safari than IE.

Could you perhaps post a screenshot?
