Help please.
Planning a week in the Canary Islands in March. Never been and so could do with some pointers as to which island/resort/hotel based on the following.
Peace and quiet - no nightclubs etc.
Drinking in bars.
Good eating out.
Which is the prettiest (?) island - can't say I like the sound of black volcanic sand - too spooky!
Any feedback on people's experiences gratefully received.
Many thanks.

Hi,
Love Fuerteventura ... been 3 times ... good bars, good food.
Have stayed in Corralejo all 3 times as cheapest for accommodation and then hire a car and venture around the island .. fuel is cheap.
The beaches are immaculate, white and stretch for miles.
Food is quite cheap too ... 3 course for 3 of us approx £ 35.00.
Weather is fantastic.
Hope this helps.

Great place, search this thread for Corraljo as there are other posts about it. Try the Argentinian bar, great steaks and proper chips!
Have a look HERE

Message for EmptyPurse..
I have done some research and I like the look of Corraljo.
Can you tell me where you stayed, and was it self catering or HB/FB basis.
Which was your favourite?
Many thanks0 -
Hello sorry to butt in , but my Mum and Dad are currently in Corralejo and staying at the Hespiria Bristol Playa and are loving it ! They say the hotel is very clean and staff are friendly and the food is good . The place caters for all sorts , couples, families and more mature folk, they will kill me for that, LOL. Look up on https://www.holidaytruths for some more reviews and for other hotels . HTH0

Price.
I think my Dad haggled with the travel agent and got the Thomson package for £670 for a week for the two of them , self catering ,flying from LGW. He was a bit smug with himself as he had been up to mine "silver surfing" for the best prices etc . I will double check , next time I hear from them . Good luck and enjoy yourselves .0 -

Transfers at TR
Search this site for "transfers", I think that "sloppychops" put a post on about them.

my vote goes to lanzarote................been there 10 times, fuerteventua once and tenerife once, lanzarote wins hands down(in my opinion)
why?
all parts of island easily accessible (no huge mountain to traverse)
varied and interesting landscape(volcanic, wild , rocky, hilly to north with oases)
once empty inaccessible beaches......now more accessible hence busier(papagayo)
a pretty small village resort(now sadly grown but not spoilt(yet))......playa blanca
lots of interesting places to visit especially those to do with cesar manrique(a local artist who built/planned numerous sites from panoramic restaurants to lagoons and his own 70`s style house
fish restaurants by the dozen
almost unknown northern villages with fab fish restaurants and almost undiscovered beaches
this is one of my favourite places in the world...............and i`ve seen a few!
no huge concrete conglomerations
i`ve been so many times it feels like going home so i guess i`m biased, if i went now maybe i`d feel differently as the unspoilt nature i loved has changed but it`s still a great place with character.0
