hi,just put my claim in since losing my job.when i have read the small print says i must have been working for 6 months to claim, not a problem as i was in my last job nearly 2 years, the policy pays out for 12 months,
question ? if i got a new job say next week ,signed off the dole, and this job did not last for 6 months would my insurance pay out?

Hi there.
If this is similar to my husband's they would pay out up until the day you go back to new employment.
Check the terms on this policy hun as they do vary, I think the 6 months maybe fine, some are just 3 months, so as they vary its best to check them out.;)
Good luck. The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Also - claim on it, and when you're done see if you can make a claim for it being mis-sold.
Not sure if you can but your claim wouod be that the policy was not sold correctly to you, rather than claiming that the policy was unusable.
It's cheeky(ish), but hey, you paid for it in the first place... get what you can
good luck,

Once you have claimed on a policy your chance of claiming for mis-selling drops to almost zero. There are other things you could challenge on other than mis-selling though.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
However, I have since seen the light.0 -

Once you claim on a policy and they pay out then you have obtained benefit and a need was proven. There is very little you can do after that to complain about it.
With new jobs, you usually find there is a new qualifying period. The qualifying period is not normally as long as the one you have when you first take the policy out. However, it does vary with providers and your policy docs will tell you or you can ask the adviser that recommended the plan in the first place (assuming an adviser was used).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

Would you care to elaborate, for the benefit of the OP, how they should do this on a policy that has paid a claim out?0 -

Actually Brock you can still make a claim on ppi after it has paid out. But not on mis-selling.I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

Peter - the OP is talking about 'income protection insurance', which I assume is not linked to a loan. That is why I commented on the questionable advice given by AJ.
In that instance there is little that can be done. I cant see where a claim would come from either .I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.
