2 best men - what do you think?

Hi all,

Getting married next year and a couple of months ago I asked my brother to be my best man - was a choice between him and my best mate of many years. He's not decided if he wants to do it yet - think he's worried about the speech as he's fairly shy.

I was thinking about asking my mate as well and having two best men as he's much more outgoing and the pair of them could do a double act for the speech.

Any views on having two best men? Just worried that people might think its weird!

I don't think its weird at all! One of my friends is getting married this summer and will he be having two best men.

Afterall, if a bride can have as many bridesmaids as she wishes there shouldn't be a problem with having more than one best man....the more the merrier I say!

its quite common now to have two best men my cousin got maried last year and her husband had two best men and she had three brides maids as well

I know a woman whose best friend from college (a man) was getting married and he asked her to be his 'best man'. His wife to be was very happy about it too. Apparently it went very well, including the 'best man's' speech.

One of my best friends is having three best men! My boyfriend is one of them!

He's chosen this option because each of them have been there for him in many ways and he couldn't choose between them. In terms of the formalities, as far as I'm aware the brides son will be the ring bearer and there may well be a 'speech off' between the three of them.

So I say go for it. If you want the pair of them it's your day to do as you please and will be quite memorable. Also I read today that all of the traditions associated with weddings are antiquated and do not relate to today's society so if anyone argues, tell them to stuff it!

Its totally up to you, who says you have to stick to tradition? I say go for it!

My OH is having his bro but he has a stutter so won't be doing the speech so his dad is going to do it!

Make your own rules, too many people worry about 'tradition'. To heck with it all, you want two Best Men, you have them, and who cares what anyone else thinks.

My brother-in-law had 2 best men, and that was 20 years ago.

We're not calling them the best men though..... they are the Wedding Elves!

H2B has 3 best friends and could decide between them, so rather than upset anyone he's having all of them.

I told him he was a wuss and it was a good job he didn't have 5 best friends

my partner is having 3 best men and i'm having 4 adult bridesmaids and 2 children bridemaids so yes you can have 2 the more the merrier i say

Hi, I'm married 16 yrs and had 2 best men. They were my hubbies 2 brothers....one read the cards and the other did the speech...worked really well! So go for it!
