£75 parking fine from PO Box company!

Hi,
My father took my 92 year old grandfather shopping recently. He parked in a disabled space as he normally does and came back to find a £75 parking fine as he had not displayed his badge correctly!! The fine was £75 if he payed within 10 days, thereafter it was an extra £3 a day. There was no one to call and the money had to be sent to a PO Box. Now apparently that's legal....I think it's outrageous. Now my father could of not paid and made his case if it went to court, and that is what he intended to do. However after 5 nights of broken sleep worrying, he paid the fine. There is a petition going to the prime minister to try and stop these cowboys, in particular the clamping of cars. I would urge you to click on the link and sign it as I have done http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/Car-clamping-law/#detail to try and make this kind of bullying a criminal offense and protect people like my father.
Thanks for reading, rant over,

What a crap petition "if my car is parked in a perfectly acceptable place then it should be deemed as a criminal offense if anyone was to remove it - regardless of whether they have a license to or not" - It's not an acceptable position to the landowner for someone to park in a disabled space without a badge being displayed correctly. Hence they get a ticket.0

was his badge wrongly displayed ?0

Oh yeah got it.
of no interest to you until it suddenly happens to you? Now everyone should sign a petition? There are far more significant moves going on I'm sure. Public awareness is growing.
Paid? - mad!
i can even tell you who you paid! UKPAO.
Never mind, next time you'll know better.

That's irrelevant in a private car park, as there is no obligation to display one.
OP, go on to the parking forum and read the stickies about private parking tickets.
Whatever you do, do not pay.
Ah, I see you have. Ah, well. Now you know.0 -

Actually it didn't happen to me it happened to my father. And no, it wasn't of interest to me until I heard about it, which is why I have posted it as I wanted to tell others. Paid, mad? No, my father is not mad, he is victim of bullying. People can sign the petition if they feel it is right to do so, no arm twisting here.

Not my ticket, I did not pay it happened to my father. He is also aware that he shouldn't pay, however some of us are more able to take this stand than others, he was loosing sleep and making himself unwell because of it. Sorry you don't like the petition, it's just one that was related to the subject, I've not written it myself, nor do I know the person that did. I've signed it because I feel it does make some valid points and I don't see a better one.

You forgot to answer the question as to whether he was guilty of parking in a disabled bay without displaying a badge?
I trust you will answer shortly.
Personally I hope they go the other way and make it legally enforcable for people to be penalised for abusing private property at the detriment of landowners and those who have genuine and contract rights to use the facilities.0 -
