    Why don't you run their scenario through www.entitledto.com and see what that says ?

    I've just put through a scenario - pensioners with non full state pension only. It said council tax benefit eligible until I increased the savings to over £31,500 !

    As Tibbledom says I think it is the entitlement to guarantee credit which affects CTB.

    There is a big problem in this country with people claiming benefits they are certainly not entitled to.
    It should only be for the really needy who cannot work etc. Not for people who 'will not' work. Or for people who say they don't have money, when in fact they do.:mad:

    I stand corrected. My Mother doesn't receive pension credit, her only benefit claim is for Council Tax credit and with that benefit you have to notifify them of any change of circumstance (apart from annual increase to state pension).
