Appologies for the length of this thread.....
I advised my wife to transfer her 3 store cards onto a 0% interest free card for 9 months to help reduce down her balance then "Tart" again in another 9 months.
She did this the end of Jan then went on holiday and came back and phoned Lloyds bank to make sure all have gone through ok to discover the follwoing has happened
She took out Lloyd’s Gold Credit Card over the phone in January 2006, to take advantage of the 0% balance transfer advertised(for 9 months).
She requested 3 balance transfers to be made. This was done over the phone with a lloyds bank staff member
Evans £1000
Littlewoods £745
Argos £1200
All 3 transfers were accepted and on the application form it was printed (by Lloyds bank) the details of all 3 balance Transfers.
She signed and all was accepted by Lloyds.
She called up Lloyds yesterday to make sure all transfers had gone through to be told:
a. Argos – All Payments made
b. Evans – All Payments made
c. Littlewoods – THIS PAYMENT WAS NOT MADE.
She was now informed(out of the blue after numerous calls prior to this and not being told), that lloyds does not acccept transfers from Littlewoods!!!!
(and this is where is become ridiculous) They then decided (off the top of their heads it seems like) to make the payments of £745.72 TO EVANS INSTEAD of Littlewoods!!!!!.
THIS WAS ON TOP OF THE MONEY THAT ALREADY HAD BEEN PAID TO EVANS!!!!!
She was then told because it was Lloyds mistake (not hers) she will now have to wait 6 – 8 weeks for the money to be retraced!!!!
She has not received any apology at all for their mistakes and in fact the staff seemed not to really care!
She has made numerous calls(at our expense) to Lloyds and Evans to try and sort out because NO help was forthcoming from Lloyds(Evan said it would take approx 5 weeks)
Because of this “Mistake" by Lloyds and the extraordinary length of time it apparently will take to trace this money back she has now miss a payment on Littlewoods therefore be charged for this and by the time this cacophony of errors has been resolved probably a few more!
Phew!!!
Anyway my question is what can we do about this?
I want to charge Lloyds for their mistake and the calls and writing the letter(only fair as this is what we are charged)
Any advice would be great.
- She has phoned the bank who has said they will sort it in 6-8 weeks!
- I cant seem to find another number to call and take this higher.
- I have pend a complaint letter but wanted to run this past you to get advice before sending out
Appriciate your advice....
Thanks

Ask for immediate re-imbursement of the second payment to evans to the account - although you are on a 0% deal you still don't want this there.
Ask them to make a transfer to your current account for the £745 you owe littlewoods so you can pay them personally.
You can even push your luck and ask for a goodwill gesture for all the inconvenience and hassle you have been caused. A few months extra 0% perhaps or maybe a credit to your account?
Putting complaints in writing is always a good idea. Good to address it to the chief executive too!
Good luck
R.Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Also, with the late payment on Littlewoods will show up on your Credit File.
If it does, put in a NOTICE OF CORRECTION and get it removed.0 -

It's when there's a note on your file to explain a missed payment or suchlike. You can write it yourself.
I *think* though that this only makes a difference if a potential lender has a human check the file (not just a computer). (please correct me if wrong). What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!
DFD - WAS: a while ago
NOW - not sure, due to boyfriend going back to uni for masters and now pgce. Worth it in the long run!
Proud to be dealing with my debts!0 -
Lloyd's TSB messed up BTs on two separate occasions for me. Each time I incurred losses of around £80 due to their incompetence. On each occasion I rang and then wrote to Customer Sevices, and each time they gave me a full apology and full reimbursement.
I hope they'll do the same for you.0 -
What the bank should do here is first of all claim back the money they sent to Evans (the overpayment only) they can do this quite easily and quickly. If they say this is going to take 6-8 weeks then they are wrong, this sort of transfer should take in all around 7 days for them to do start to finish.
Meanwhile as someone else has mentioned contact littlewoods and advise them whats happened, although tbh they really wont be all that interested all they want is there payments - so if you can continue with payments as per normal.
When your back on the phone to card services explain that your not happy (plz be nice to the poor girl or boy that answers) and ask for the telephone number for the banks customer care dept in birmingham.
Your letter or email to customer care should state all the problems you have had and include the costs incurred ie extra charges like interest payment & late fees also the unfriendlyness of staff you have spoken too. If your wife can remember the date and rough time of her call the bank can call up the telephone call and listen to it.
Your possibley looking at compensation of around £100 with a bunch of flowers and if you push maybe an extension to your 0% deal :T

Surely it would be best to tell evans you made an overpayment by mistake, they then refund to your current account and then you transfer that to littlewoods therefore its on the 0% deal. If lloydds trace it back then it will no longer be on the 0% deal.Nice to save.0
