Stupid I know,
but I cant find any house insurance paperwork, for my own home.
I am pretty sure I paid in full at the time as I see no Direct debit trail from my bank statements.
Does anybody know of a way I can find out who I am insured with ?
Cheers

Could you call your bank and ask who you paid?
There isn't any database as far as I am aware.0 -
My friend had a car crash and couldn't remember who she was insured with. She ended up phoning round the likely insurers and asking them if she was insured with them. She found out in the end, but it was only a few phone calls (she had shopped round each year and couldn't remember the most recent one). Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation? :cool:0

Hi ...
There are central sites for tracing old life assurance policies and pension benefits - but like SolicitorMidlands I don't think there is one for general insurances like home insurance - not one I have heard of anyway.
But I do know there is a central database open to Insurers as part of their Fraud/Claims information sharing arrangements - it is often checked by them when a new policy is being arranged.
I would doubt if it is open to the public - but maybe this is worth a phone call - contact the Association of British Insurers (ABI) - I would imagine Insurers use names and post codes on the Claims database - maybe they can help - don't know that - but as I say worth a phone call imho.
ABI site here:

One further thought - if you can't trace anything at all - maybe time to think of taking out home insurance to be certain??If many little people, in many little places, do many little things,
they can change the face of the world.

If you have a mortgage you could check with your mortgage company as they normally require you to not their name on the policy and give them a copy of it so they might know.0
