Fridge temperature settings help please

There is a dial inside the fridge part of my Indesit fridge-freezer that goes from 1 to 5, it is currently set at 4. If I want to make it colder, do I turn it towards the 5 or the 1?

Also will it reduce the temperature in the freezer too, as I don't think there is a separate control for that? It is the freezer that I want colder, as I don't think things are as "solid" as they should be in there.
:D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D

If you mean a separate compartment with separate door, there must be a control for your freezer. If you mean a fridge with frozen food storage compartment then the control will lower that temp. Normally higher number = colder.

Thanks for that info. It has a separate door for the freezer, but it's crammed full at the moment so I can't see if there is a control in there unless I empty it. It came with the flat, we didn't buy it, hence me not being too clear on the controls. Needless to say they didn't leave a manual.

Anyway I will check that out when I can get a bit of room in there. It's only one of those little half-size top ones, with the fridge underneath.

Thank you too Niall24. Slight problem in that I can't see a model number on it, but there must be one somewhere. I have no idea how old it is, or whether it is still in production. I'll save the link to the manuals and hopefully find out which model it is when I can get at the back one of these days, as it isn't showing at the front.

If it was bought from comet, they have their own model numbers on some machines.
I would email indesit and ask them.

  • normally your model number is inside the fridge compartment or on the back of the unit itself
