redundant wilst in an IVA !!!

Hi All
My state of affairs at the moment is that my partner and I have been in an IVA since March 2006(Just realized I could have gone with a non profit IVA) one year later we discovered we where about to start a family. Since our child was born it has been a struggle to maintain our repayments with my partner being on maternity leave and the cost of raising a child.
Now she has been made redundant and although she has had a redundancy payment this will only keep our heads above water for a short period of time and jobs are thin on the ground in our area and she will probably need training if she is going to get a local job, we have almost no equity in our property as the market has crashed of late, perhaps £2000 if we are lucky as we are both in a IVA where do we stand as my wages wont be able to support the 2 IVA’s and our mortgage
Questions:
Can my partner get training or government funding?
Can we change our IVA to a non profit organisation?
Could my partner go through bankruptcy and I maintain my IVA?
If we go bankrupt will they take our house?
Can I or we still work whilst bankrupt?
Hope you can point me in the right direction

Best regards

  • Can my partner get training or government funding? I think you can only get help if you are on benefits
Can we change our IVA to a non profit organisation? not sure
Could my partner go through bankruptcy and I maintain my IVA? wouldn't think so if it is a joint one
If we go bankrupt will they take our house? not always.
Can I or we still work whilst bankrupt? yes if you do not work in banks ect
Hope you can point me in the right direction

Hope this helps. Pop over to the bankruptcy board where they can advise more and look at your SOA for you. Good luck.

    Hi

You can sometimes work in banks even if BR, IF you talk to your employer before things go pear-shaped.

Last count of those about which I know was 3 OK and 2 not-OK. Both those not OK did not inform their employer until they were BR.
