    I don't think anyone knows, but its hard to imagine less stable than now.

    OP, there is another board here where we essentially argue this all day and everyday. I think the important thing to consider is individual circumstances. e.g. if some one was in he lucky position of being able to buy the home of their dreams outright now and not be planning to sell it then it would be perhaps not the right decision to not buy, and lose the property. However, if the theoretical purchasor is a young person whose life is making many changes ..un married for example, no children yet,and in a precarious industry bying a home they might outgrow even if none of the hardships of economy touch them it might well be a very poor time to buy.
