Tribunal hearing tomorrow

Had my IB (wrongly) stopped in July 2008 due to the Atos doctor writing down incorrect answers at my medical. Anyway, its my Tribunal hearing tomorrow, and I have to attend (with my mum) - as I suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, this will be quite gruelling, does anyone else have experiences of tribunal hearings? How were they? what was the outcome? Thanks.

Hi,
they are normally quite informal affairs with questions being asked similar to thos asked on an IB50 (can you do this/can you do that/what help do you need with this or that etc.
It's too late now, but you really should have provided a letter from your doctor stating your anxiety/panic issues to give to the panel at the start of the tribunal. What I would do is ask your mum to ask the panel if she can approach them at the start and explain these problems to them as it may be that they can address some questions to your mum, or they will agree to you asking your mum to explain some issues that you may have problems communicating. Hopefully you will have documentary proof of these problems to provide to back this up from either GP/Psychiatrist/Psychologist etc, together with proof of what medication you take and what you are having to do to cope (counselling/CPN visits/hospital etc)
Hope this helps

My wife had a similar situation and this is what we did, with me assisting (we won!)0 -
My son had to go to a tribunal for the same reason - much of what the doctor had written wasn't true. There was another person waiting who had seen the same doctor and had also had a very inaccurate report. Both of them had their benefit restored.
My son had a Welfare Advisor with him so I only went in just at the end when he was fading and not able to answer the questions himself. The panel were a bit stern and quite formal and we couldn't tell what they were thinking which was offputting.0 -
I am very nervous, unfortunately my GP couldn't care less, he wont help at all, I would change doctors but seeings as I have got this tribunal going on, dont want to change docs in the middle of it incase my records get lost or something. Even though my doc diagnosed my condition, has sent me to the psychiatric nurses, is happy to provided me with antidepressants and seen me in his surgery distressed etc, he just cant be bothered, so unfortunately I wont have support from him, I feel bad enough as it is, let alone have to endure this treatment, and all because the Atos doctor wrote things down wrong! I am just hoping and praying that common sense will prevail, that the medicals I have had over the many years of my illness will support my case, and that I am believed.
I am pleased that in your cases, both were ruled in your favour.what goes around, comes around...........0 -

It was very horrible, the judge wouldn't let us speak, and in the end he adjourned the hearing (again) to wait for my medical notes to be sent for, he was very abrupt anyone would think I was a criminal! So am just waiting on getting a date for the third hearingwhat goes around, comes around...........0
