    Fair enough

Is there anything OTHER than 'cookies' on the list?

With the 'type' of surfing you do id really advise using FIREFOX with the NOSCRIPT plugin

    Download FIREFOX
    http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/

    NOSCRIPT
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

NOSCRIPT works by blocking ALL website scripts (Which is how dodgy websites infect your computer ~ the easiest way to catch a virus after downloading). So you need to UNLOCK all websites you use for them to work properly (Like this one for example)
I personally set it so that it DOESNT show messages about blocked scripts. Then all you need to do is use common sense. Think to yourself 'does the site work ok'? If so it doesnt need touching. But if you wanted to watch a video on youtube say, youd need to unlock parts of it. Look bottom right, If theres ANY red on the 'S' symbol, then something is being blocked.

(You will also need the other addons like FLASH etc)

  • In fairness they're not actually mine, well most of em anyway they are under guest ID. I was looking through em and wondered why I didnt know a lot of em :rotfl:They are all low tracking things. I use firefox already as I dont like IE I have always had problems with it so will look into the other add on. I update java regular and thought I had done all my updates for windows to as I have a reminder but I must of missed that one will do it tonight. Thanks a lot for your help after spending a few hours on this today its helped spped it up loads and im back to waiting only a few seconds before I can use the pc. Weird how these things can speed up with a few tips from you experts
On a side note I am going for a HP 550 very soon for my lorry at work when I am out at night in truck it can act as TV/DVD internet access etc, do you know if it will need to be ram upgraded to the full 4gig or will 1gig be enough as I know that from the reviews although it is a nice little machine vista takes most of mem up. And also how do I find out if it can take a spare battery and where to get one? I wont have power in my lorry other then the 12/24 volt pluigs already there so would need an inverter or just take spare battery fully charged up in my bag. Thanks muchly :)

For vista you really need at least 2 gig for it to run properly (4s overkill mind)
