A wedding with no guests

We got engaged a couple of months ago after being together for 9 years and are hoping to get married in 2011.
We have no family at all apart from my boyfriends nan, we don't have any close friends because of moving around a lot due to work, just a lot of people that we know. My ideal wedding would be just us and our children, has anyone done this? What did you do about witnesses? and then there are things like the wedding cake - seems pointless when there are no guests but I don't want the day to feel less special.
Any advice would be fab, all the venues I have looked at seem to be aimed at having loads of guests and we don't want a church wedding.

Have you thought about going abroad? You can have a special holiday with the kids and a wedding all rolled into one! No guests needed at all xIt all works out good in the end.If it's not good, it's not the end!0

Why don't you all go on a family holiday somewhere and get married at the same time? It doesn't need to be exotic, some UK locations can be fantastic and you'll feel more relaxed just by getting away from things.
If you want to arrange a celebration for acquaintances later this can be low key venue (eg your local).Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Tesco do small wedding cakes - buy the smallest tier.Mama read so much about the dangers of drinking alcohol and eating chocolate that she immediately gave up reading.0

Wow you are all so quick! Thank you all, I think that a holiday and wedding rolled into 1 would be great. We have 4 young boys so by 2011 we could certainly do with a holiday!Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0

Try Center Parcs or Florida (this might work out cheaper than CP!) so your boys have plenty to keep them occupied.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

A holiday with your children is a great idea. A friend of mine went to Gretna, just her and her husband and said she loved everything about it. The whole day was about them. They got ready together, travelled to the ceremony together, had their meal just the 2 of them - nobody else to worry about!
I'd love to do this but my family would never forgive me!!!! lol!

We're jetting off to Cuba next year. The witnesses are included in the wedding package and we cant wait. No worrying about auntie Edna sitting near Brother in Laws sisters friend etc etc. My friends just gone to Gretna with her fella and their little one. Plenty of places abroad do weddings as part of the holiday at the hotel and not just long haul either - could be worth a look0

Where in Cuba are you off to? We stayed at Playa Pesquero last year. They host weddings at the hotel. Was beautiful.0
