Re: TV Warranty

Options
In November 2007 my son bought a Evesham flat screen TV from an online company,
The TV has a 2 year warranty, he paid for it with a Visa Debit card.

Now Evesham has gone bust and so has the TV.

Can he claim from the company that sold it, or Visa, or will he not be able to claim from anyone.

Thanking you in advance for your reply's
Drinda.

The warranty is often underwritten by an Insurance Company, have a look at the documents you have and find out who its underwritten by and give them a call.

Most Insurers in the UK who are regulated by the FSA have a compensation scheme for claims if they go bankrupt a bit like the one for when banks go bust

The warranty is the responsibility of the retailer - no one else !

I think the OP was asking about the manufacturers' guarantee in this case.

I also think that, increasingly, there are very good arguments for proceeding directly against a manufacturer on a) terms of its guarantee; b) indirect contract.

Thank you all for your reply,

My son has now contacted TVWORLD .co.uk who sold him the TV and they said no problem, they are having the TV collected and if it can be repaired it will be if not they will replace it with a new one, not the same make as I said that company had gone bust, but with one of the same size and spec: and with a new warranty.

I don't know about you guys but we think that is very fair.
    Thanks again Drinda.

Very fair and the way we'd like more retailers behave. I hope they are true to their world, if they are, all credit to them!
