We eventually used Melvyn Wilkinson. We chose him because he was able to give us details of plenty of satisfied customers and we checked with them and they were very happy to recommend him.

One of our neighbours has just employed him to do paving work for them having seen the finished work at our house.

I think he is from the Portglenone area but had no problem travelling to Lisburn to do work.

If you want to see a sample of his work you're more than welcome to have a look at our patio and driveway.

thanks Pam - did he come out and give you a quotation, or did you have to phone him with the measurements? I wouldn't have a clue how to work out how much we need, its a strange shape of an area!

He came down and measured up the area and then went away and gave us the quote a few days later.

However my husband had made an attempt at drawing our back garden and patio area on graph paper and we had then gone to Tobermere concrete in Bangor and made use of their free 30 minute design service. The girl there was very good and made suggestions and produced a new drawing for us which we gave to Melvyn to show him what we fancied. He tweaked it a bit when he was doing the work and it turned out really well. You don't need to do that though because he will measure up himself to ensure he doesn't get caught out when ordering the bricks in.

Also originally we just wanted the patio done but then we decided to redo the driveway and he then quoted for doing a brick edging round the driveway too. We got someone else to do the asphalt in the centre of the drive.

Glad you got sorted Pam, Wilkinsons are good quality and reasonably priced too.
