Paving Contractor

DH and I want to redo the patio and Tobermore have given us a very long list of paving contractors to chose from with a proviso on the end saying they do not guarantee the quality of the work done by any of them.

So can anyone give a personal recommendation for any contractor in the Greater Belfast/Lisburn area? I'm assuming business will be a bit slow for them at the moment and there would be no great wait in getting the project started.

I worked for a few contractors in the past, but they're not in the Greater Belfast/Lisburn area. Post the list up.

I live in Lisburn so I'll list the ones they gave in that area:-

    Donnelystown Paving
    Dornans groundworks
    D.M. Driveways
    Town & Country Landscaping
    T.J. Paving

Does anyone have any experience of these?

I know 2 good ones who are cheaper than most. Stephen Gibson and Wilkonsons, both in the Portglenone area. They travel all over the country. If they're on the list, tell them how many square metres, what type of brick and edging and get a quote over the phone. Then ring around a few local contractors and see what the difference is.

Unfortunately not in Lisburn but maybe he would go there...

I used the following guy last October and was very happy with the work - he was quite happy to give me the names and addresses of recent jobs so that I could go and look at what he had done before agreeing to get him to do the work

    Company: Abblo Paving&Builders
    Name: Jonathan McMinn
    Locatio n: Ballynure
    Tel: 02893 354552

Hi I used a fella Paul Quigg, I think it was Paul Quigg groundswork or paving. He did my backyard in Antrim, very good job.

Stick to the contractors on the Tobermore list , even though Tobermore do not guarantee their work they are well vetted before getting on the list . A big company like Tobermore would not assosiate themselves with cowboys .;)

Sorry to say, but I used a contractor whio is on both Tobermore and Acheson Glovers list. He was very good and did a neat job. HOWEVER I have a few problems since the work was done, which point to both a problem with the pavers themselves and the way they were laid. These were brought to the attention of both the Manufacturer and Contractor who laid the pavers within weeks of the job being completed late last Summer. The Company who manufactured them have paid me lip service, but are very much dragging their feet. The Contractor who is based in N'Ards has not responded to phone calls, texts and a personal letter. Like any sensible person I DID research the situation fairly well before deciding who to go with, and examined some of the Contractors work in advance. This just goes to prove that no matter how much research you do, you can still end up with problems. I may yet end up in the Small Claims Court.
