Free Legal Car Cover?
Options
Hi
I have had numerous emails from a company called YOUR KEY, claiming that I am getting free leagal insurance through my motorbike insurer and that every year, this legal cover will be automatically renewed for free even if I am not insured with the same company. It also calims that not only it covers me with the bike but also any member of my family and car. The website address is http://www.yourkey.info
I just wondered if anybody had had any occurence with YOUR KEY and most of all, if it is trye or just a scam. If true, that woiuld be great as we could save £30 to £40 every year.
Please let me kow your thoughts or experiences.

I am also considering taking this cover out, it all sounds to good to be true on the website, which makes me a little wary, as generally if something sounds too good to be true, it often is! I would love to hear from anyone whom has used there services. Cheers

No telephone number or address on their website that I can find.
Tell them to clear off and leave you alone.0 -
It's run by a claim handler.
They will help you out, but only free if you are not at fault - if you contact them following a fault accident, then you have to pay for all their services.0 -
if you disregard the after accident services they provide that you could end up paying for, recovery etc and simply use them as LEGAL COVER in the event of any claim you may need to make. Is this actually any different to what you would get paying for it when taking out insurance?! especially if you are fully comp, aren't most things are taken care of by your insurance provider anyway? it's a little confusing, are there any experts out there that can answer this? Basically what I want to know is: if I use there service simply to provide me with Legal cover should I need it, will there service meet my requirements? Also this link takes you to contact info which says it is run through a solicitors firm called Mark Thompson Law. http://www.yourkey.info/team

They wouldn't cover you if you needed legal representation following any incident where you are at fault.
They only cover you where someone else is to blame for an accident.
They don't provide any legal cover should you be involved in a prosecution for an alleged motoring offence etc.0 -

Yes I think that is how I understand it, however,is that any different to legal cover that you get when bought with insurance, would those cover you if you were getting prosecuted?!0 -
This is quoted of the churchill website, and is a summary of there legal protection: Churchill Legal Assistance Service
Churchill Legal Assistance Service provides you with up to £100,000 of legal costs if you have an accident involving your car which is not your fault.
You will be provided with the reassurance that we will manage the process of recovering your uninsured losses for you. These include:
- Compensation for death or injury
- Policy excess
- Loss of earnings
- Travel costs
- Accident repair costs if you do not have comprehensive cover
you will note, importantly that they will only cover your legal costs if the accident is NOT YOUR FAULT also, so as far as I can see, there seems very little difference with this FREE cover accept its FREE!
Thanks for help everyone.

You need to check on what cover is being offered.
Most add on legal cover policies just cover legal costs for claiming uninsured losses (though only if you have a good chance of winning the claim).
Most motor policies include cover for legal representation if you are involved in a fatal accident.
They don't provide cover if eg. you are prosecuted for a speeding offence etc.0
