I'm not quite clear here
was the item ordered in you name by her via the catalogue, or under her own name ??Ex forum ambassador

it was ordered in her name and delivered to her address.0

OP, I don't know anything about catalogues. What do the terms and conditions say about any liability you have for orders for other people?
Have you told your s-i-l that you are now being chased for the debt?0 -
my s-i-l wont answer the phone to me,or have anything to do with me anymore. and i have searched for any info about non payments and cant find anything,i have spoken to the catalogue people and they have said, cos its my catalogue its my debt, but the order was in her name as my customer,im baffled, surely just because she hasnt replied to their letters,it doesnt mean its not her debt......:mad:0

Hi,
I have Freemans catalogue and when I had a non payer they went straight to them. When you signed her up as a customer did you have to give all her details because I had to with Freemans. They then wrote to my customer and said they had a credit agreement with Freemans but that they pay me. So when they stopped paying I rang Freemans and they said no problems we will take this off your account as a customer and will collect the money direct. Thanks for any help and advice given

OP - how do they catalogue company have your details?0

People are misreading this.
The OP used her catalogue account to buy the machnie on her sister in laws behalf who was supposed to make the payments, she is now not doing so.
the OP has to pay up as it is her account ultimately and pursue her SIL through the courts for reimbursement.0 -

Yep they are dead right
Sorry its your debt in the laws eyes
You merely had it sent to her
Tough lesson to learn
Catalogue is perfectly able to persue you, best to pay and not let this damage your credit history
Take SIL to small claims court as suggested above"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."
All truth goes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Then, it is violently opposed. Finally, it is accepted as self-evident.0
