Hi all,
I would appreciate some advice,
I have won a car, but its a manual and as i only have an automatic licence ill be selling it, ive a nasty feeling that the dealer can't deliver without an insurance cover note??.
What do you suppose i do? Take out the most basic insurance for the delivery then cancel asap?? Can i do that?? Or will they deliver without insuring it if im not gonna drive it?
Thanks all
Lee

Well Done You!!
I'd have thought the competition organisers would want to show you actually being awarded the car / pics getting the keys, type thing.
See if they'd let you put £$£$£ to it for an auto - assuming you wanted to keep it!!
&, assuming it's BRAND NEW, if this was the case, you'd need to get insurance sorted BEFORE it could be registered. Otherwise the dealer will put it into their name first, meaning the NEW car is actually second hand!!
You'll need to check terms n condition stuff, to confirm.
Also if you were to try & sell it, you'll require cover all the time it's in your possession.
Easiest way, if you don't want it, is ask the dealer to buy it from you.
Next easiest, arrange your local car auctions http://www.british-car-auctions.co.uk to collect it & sell it for you. Then you'll not need to be quite so concerned about insurance/driving it.
Expect to loose around 30% of it's NEW list price!!Unless it's a MINI or other sought after model!!
What is it, then??
Or take a manual lesson or two & another test!!

If you were to take the manual car with the intention of selling it, and already have a car insured in your name, you could add it as an additional (temporary) vehicle for a month or two for next to nothing.
If your insurer was funny about it you could tell them you were changing the car to the new one, but needed to keep the old one insured whilst you sold it. I've done this a few times in the past.
In a few weeks, you might decide you don't like the new one
and go back to insuring the original one
