Green Electricity Over Priced

Energy from "green" sources costs more to produce than from other sources such as burning coal, so they pass this increased cost onto the customer. Personally I think green tariffs are pointless. Energy companies only build green energy when it makes sense to them or when the government requires them to do so. Signing up to a green tariff isn't going to encourage it.0

Has anyone round here actually signed up for a green tarrif? Myself? Nope. I found that the price rises in 2008 were all the incentive I needed to slash my energy use. I don't need an added cost just to please our eco warriors.
My bills stayed very similar to last year, my 'savings' were swallowed up by hefty tarrif increases. I dread to think what my bill would of been, even the Mrs was quietly satisfied after all the moaning about being cold she had done.0 -

Agreed Jimexbox.
there's no way I could afford a green tarrif, my usage has allso been cut to the quick due to price hikes.
I can,t imagine how high priced tarrifs for "green users" is going to encourage people to conserve energy.0 -
i'm with hydro and they have a few renewable tariffs that i looked into, better plan, power 2 and rspb energy. the 1st 2 get the elec from renewable energy and charge the same as their std tariffs but rspb energy charges more but the rspb get money from this for their projects0

As it's produces my nature not by mankind .
All energy is produced by nature...coal, gas nuclear and all from natural sources that have the energy contained within released!! Same for Wind, Biomass, Hydro etc. lol

I am signed up to Green Energy H2O, Scottish Power's E7 tariff. It's about £2 a year more expensive that the online equivalent according to the comparison sites, but I am under no illusions that they are a environmentally friendly business!Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

I sell 'green energy' to businesses.................or rather I don't - it costs more so they prefer the regular stuff!
