First Plus PPI Success!!

Hi. I would just like to let you all know that I began reclaiming my PPI charges from Firstplus last year, and after several letters to a fro, Firstplus offered to repay me £829 as a 'goodwill gesture' although they stated they had done nothing wrong. I refused it on the grounds that I believed I should have had the entire premium returned which was just under £3000. I went to the Financial Ombudsmen, and I received a letter from them a few days ago stating that they agreed with my complaint and they had arranged for Firstplus to repay the premium, plus all interest accrued as a result of that premium and other charges which had been apllied. Basically, I was told that Firstplus needed to repay me everything I had paid for the policy, and return my account to a state which it would have been in if I had never paid for the PPI. I stand to get a cheque within the next 6 weeks for £3,600. I am very very pleased! I was also told by the Ombusmen that they have been a bit busy with Firstplus! Good luck to anyone else in the process of reclaiming...and fight your corner, it is well worth it!!:j

Anyone out there who has won thier claim via the FOS could you give me any pointers as to how the complaint should be worded. Did you base it the template letters? Do you need to quote any legal terms or anything special please. I am just about to complete my FOS form. Firstplus have made me an unacceptable offer as a goodwill gesture without admission.0

Hi there
Good luck with this.
I won claims through the FOS twice.
Basically just explain your complaint, like it is on your letters like you send to the finance companies, and just keep it simple but make sure you add everything that relates to your complaint.
If they require further information from you, they will ask for this, and remember to enclose a copy of your final response letter.
You need to tell them that your not happy with the offer that was made, as you believe you should be put back in the position as if you did not take the PPI out.
So not to worry, keep it simple.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"
