Washing machine broken on delivery

Where do i stand with this, can i put in a complaint??
I am really mad as our old one broke last Sunday and we ordered 1 that day for delivery today as during the week we both work.
We decided 1 week was fine to have washing piled up as its only the 2 of us. We got the worst time slot ever 5-9pm (not their fault i know, but annoying).
We moved the old washing machine outside to make it easier to take away as our kitchen is tiny, so saves them more work.
We didn't know when to have tea, but by 7pm i decided i had to make something. Only spag bol, you guessed it, half way through cooking it, they ring, they're 10 mins away.
OH goes outside to help them bring it around through the back garden so it can go straight into the kitchen as he walks to them it falls off the delivery trolley and the lid breaks.
The delivery guy had the cheek to say, its only the lid mate, it will still work  .
How does he know??? If we accepeted it and it didn't work it would then be our fault for accepting it damaged.
My OH said, sorry don't care, im not accepting it.
He got no apology off him, just told someone would ring tomorrow with a delivery for sometime Monday.
Sometime Monday  , sometime Monday i cannot do, this is the reason we went for Saturday delivery cos we work.
I sooo cannot go another week without doing any washing.
Do you think they will have to honour our wishes so to speak and deliver Monday evening???
Do i submit a complaint with how the delivery man was (lack of manners more than anything)

When ever you get a replacement, I would DOUBLE CHECK its not the one that fell off the lorry. Thats happened to me before, but we could tell as the packaging was torn in exactly the same place.0

Just wait in on Monday for a new washing machine.
Accidents happen.
I doubt you will get any compo."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Where exactly in the OP was the word "Compensation" mentioned?
All the OP is asking is can they reasonably expect the company to now fit in with their timings so as to minimise the inconvenience to them. Which due to the delivery drivers incompetence has meant they are without a washing machine for longer then expected.
Get a life Dave, and at least read the posts you are trying to berate.0 -
I think the delivery people were out of order not apologising, no excuse for bad manners. However, I would have accepted appliance with the provision that a new one would be delivered on my next day off. (If the damage looked only cosmetic) All you can do is write to the retailer I guess and see if they play ball regarding the del guys attitude. I doubt you can insist on an evening delivery at short notice.0

They can deliver on Tuesday, but cannot tell me the time as you have to confirm your delivery slot the evening before at 9pm by ringing the number or going to the website and putting in your reservation number.
So i am ***** because we work during the week and cannot take time off to come home and wait. I work in a school which is only 10 mins away from my house, but i asked my head teacher when i needed my cooker delivered if the company could ring school when they were 10mins away, could i then pop home, accept the delivery and return to school and i was told no.
I run the risk of Monday at 9pm finding out my time slot is Tuesday during the day or i take a big risk that its Tuesday evening at which that is okay.
So what do i do????
I cannot wait till next weekend as OH and i don't have loads of clothes in order to have enough choice of what to wear to work.
I could pick it up from instore, but it will not fit in our boot of the car. OH drives for a living and has a big van sitting outside, use it at the weekend and get caught and could loose his job.
Van hire is £60, £60 we don't have.
Im screwed......Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
Could you not hand wash some clothes if you are desperate for clean ones, and just insist that it is an evening deliveryLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

I've had to hand wash some, yes, as seeing the weather is nice washed what i thought we'd need and put them on the line to dry, dripping wet through i might add so will take a lot longer to dry.
OH rang them (i did the 1st time) and he got told the same info i did. So we went back to the store we purchased it from.
They were miles better, the women totally understood and asked if she'd like us to ring them, i said yes. She then double checked with a person higher up, who was great and said, its the delivery mens fault so surely they have to be accomdating now and give a time slot that suites.
He then rang them and got the same speal we did. But he requested that they put a 'evening if possible' note on the account. I double checked that if on Monday evening i find out its a slot when im at work and they turn up and no one will be home that i won't be charged and he said absoutely not.
He said if Tues doesn't work out to come back into the store and he will sort it out personally. He then wrote the stores number and his name on my receipt booklet.
So much for the sign in store that says 'next day delivery if items in stock, with a time slot worked out to suit you'Mummy to two girls: October 2013 and February 20160 -
