SanDisk 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo £37.99

biglugs - just done some more searching and now I find a 2gb MS pro duo on Amazon.co.uk for £79. Very odd. Seems to be the slower speed though. Although the £137 one has a picture of a slower one too.
I can't seem to find a page for the sticks which was made by Amazon, they are always merchant pages with an Amazon price at the side as biglug's stick is (so its not an Amazon mistake), which I find suspicious. Can't help feeling even Amazon haven't quite sorted out a way to ensure safe purchases here.
Best of luck anyway mate.0 -
Luffy wrote:Do they come with Sony/Sandisk warranties? The adapter inside the box? My info could be out of date, these fakers seem to be very quick to update their methods. My advice still stands to any prospective buyer. Wait for the 4gb+ sticks to really flood the market (driving prices down) and invest in a stick of your choice from a respected seller.
Yes it came with the warranty, yes it came with the adaptor inside the box. It may have been in far east packaging but its 100% genuine. They can afford to sell them cheaper because they dont get ripped off as much over there as we do over here. Plus these sellers buy in bulk so that forces the cost down even more.
4gb cards are very new and cost a fortune - I can buy four of more 2gb cards for the price of one 4gb card.
The previous card I bought was a 1gb Sandisk card from a wellknown UK based internet company that cost 50% less than if I'd bought it from say Jessops or Dixons etc. In store prices are a rip-off and anybody who buys from them is a mug.Never argue with an idiot. Luffy, do fake ones work or not?
If they do then how can you tell whether a card is fake or not?0 -
The one I ordered is definitely an Amazon one (i.e. not from a 3rd party supplier). They are now out of stock and showing availability in 1-2 weeks, so there appears not to be an Amazon page you can look at at present.
I am fully prepared for the argument if they send me the wrong model (eg the older MSN-MX1GS) rather than the one I ordered (the MSN-MX1GN) which is the new super-fast chip.
As ever I kept screen shots of all the pages I ordered from, and a printout of my order which shows clearly the model code I expect to receive.
Interestingly if you look for the 512MB model they do have the correct photo, so I'm hopeful I will get the correct one.You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0 -

It varies. Some work but have different capacities to the official ones. Others display a certain capacity but then when you try to fill it it won't go that high. They have slightly different dimensions so fit a bit funny. There can be lower quality on things like text printing or the gold connectors can be a bit thinner etc.

really useful link. Shows the 2gb Japanese packaging too. Every stick on ebay.co.uk I see seems to adhere to one or more of these fake traits, most obviously the circles used to seal the package. Others have the icons on the right of the package in a different order and even different pictures such as a PSP.
how about sharing your sources so we can buy them too silent_bob?0 -
I would do but its against MSE rules to list eBay sellers. All you have to do is find the people selling them - check out their feedback - and then look for people who have bought the memory card you are after and they are happy with it. Lots of these gives you more confidence. The guy I bought from (based in the UK) had sold over 200 of these 2gb Sony cards all with positive feedback on them - I know thats no 100% guarantee but IMO a minimal risk.
Mobymemory and Picstop are reuptable internet companies though and much cheaper than the high street.Never argue with an idiot. He will bring you down to his level and beat you with experience.
