Sportsworld overcharge - entitled to a refund of difference?

Hi everyone,
I bought a pair of trainers from SportsWorld in the week. On the shoe box it states the price as £11.99 when I was actually charged £17.99. Stupidly I didn't notice this at the time.
I went into a different branch of SportsWorld today, in the same town, to try and get a refund of the difference. The girl on the till went to price check the trainers and, having spoken to her manager, told me that the majority of these trainers are priced up as £17.99 in their store (and programmed as that in the till) and so I would have to pay £17.99 regardless of whether the box I was given by the shoe department said £11.99 or not. She told me if I wasn't happy to take it up with the store I bought them from, which I am going to do tomorrow. However, is the sales assistant right? Am I entitled to a a refund of the £6 difference?
Thanks everyone

Entitled? No. They are not legally bound to sell anything at any price, be it on the box, the point of sale or an advertisment.
Could you get the £6 refunded as a gesture of good will? POssibly, all down to the managers discretion, although, as it's sportsworld, I somehow doubt it...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
