Under the distance selling Act you are protected as a Consumer. The trading law states that because you can't inspect the product before you purchase then you can return it within 7 days and this should include glasses so think you should be ok.

Thanks, that is very useul to know.

an exception to the act is
the supply of goods made to the consumer’s own specification
such as custom-made blinds or curtains. But this exception does
not apply to upgrade options such as choosing alloy wheels when
buying a car; or opting for add-on memory or choosing a
combination of standard-off-the shelf components when ordering
    a PC, for example

assume prescription glasses would fall under that

I work at ciliaryblue, all the glasses we reglaze are posted back, we never keep anything here and I thought we always refunded if there was ever an issue? I am sorry you have had a problem.

I didn't realise I hadn't replied back on this thread. I don't want to go into all the details again now, but suffice to say that after literally months of lies from our contact at Ciliary Blue (always promising to sort it out, call us back, etc etc but nothing ever happened), we felt we had no choice but to go to the Small Claims Court.

Funnily enough as soon as we did, they sent us the glasses  They also responded to our claim with a lie just to top things off. So we had wasted our money paying to submit our claim and could not proceed with it any further to claim back our costs. Had they only posted the glasses out to us in the first place (months earlier) we would not have been out of pocket or inconvenienced. I just do not understand why a company would behave in this manner.
  • Hi
Without wishing to go into specifics here, just wanted to say that under no circumstances do any of my staff lie, or hold on to any glasses in any shape or form. We regalze then send out, the same process with many thousands of pairs. I'm sorry your case proceeded in such a manor, but we just couldn't complete your requests in the time scales you needed. You did though as far as I'm aware receive a full refund and we replaced like for like the glasses in question.
We are always sorry for any inconvenience lost mail causes and try to rectify the situation as much as we can and as such pride ourselves on our levels of customer service. I am very sorry our best efforts failed you on this occasion.

OK, well there is little point in starting an online disagreement. I know what happened (and so do the relevant staff at Ciliary Blue) and that is all that matters to me, I just hoped that by posting on here I would perhaps help others to make up their minds

@AdamC100 - what's the "6064" at the end of your post? Is that your Metsuki Order Number?

@Jackie2299 - why quote your order number as well?

Can you both confirm that Metsuki haven't offered you any incentive to register an post nice things about them?

I have used www.irisoptical.co.uk for the past few years, and have found them to be quite cheap compared to high street opticians. I have quite a strong prescription as I am extremely myopic, and I was able to get a pair of designer spectacles with high index lenses for less than the price I was quoted for the lenses alone by a high street store!
Just checked the sight but they only seem to do "designer" brands??

    I just dont understand this.

Surely so called designer brands are simply the same ,often chinese made ,frames but with a known brand on them which has been licensed to the manufacturers thus allowing them to charge extra for the alleged lifestyle/aspirational brand?

Three more newly registered users, each saying good things about Metsuki with a mysterious number added at the end of their post.

Reporting thread as SPAM and suggesting that people take any favourable things said about Metsuki by newly registered users with a very large pinch of salt!
