Glasses: Can I trust www.metsuki.co.uk?

Hello

I am looking to purchase a new pair of glasses. I have looked around and decided on a frame. Metsuki have the frame on their website and the full cost of my glasses will be significantly cheaper via https://www.metsuki.co.uk than via the traditional high street opticians.

The issue I have is that there are very few reviews of https://www.metsuki.co.uk and as I will be spending about £200 I want to avoid losing my money to a rogue company/website.

Has anyone had any dealings with Metsuki? All input will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I have read only good things about metsuki so I decided to give them a try. My new varifocals are due to arrive in the next few days, but my experience of them so far has been extremely positive.
Their customer service is first class, I must say.
I suggest you phone them to find out more f you have doubts.

My husband used Metsuki a few months ago for his prescription sunglasses. They were cheapest for the Raybans he wanted. Great service, no complaints.

    Would happily use them again.

(However on a side note, avoid Ciliary Blue as they have been a nightmare and we still don't have either our money back or the pair of glasses we should be getting)

I have dealt with ciliaryblue on many occasions as they had glazed many many pairs of glasses for my own optical practice and have always found them to be fair and professional? Didn't really agree with online stores but some are ok.

For anybody who’s nervous about buying glasses online - I've just purchased my second pair of glasses from Metsuki ... Prada frames with super thin varilux physio lenses which I was quoted over £720 for in a well known chain. Can I name names ?
The whole process was far easier than I expected ... they sent me out a couple of frames to try at home along with kit and guidelines on how to mark the lenses and surprisingly they included return paid postage.
With some help from my partner the whole process took only a few minutes and I had my glasses delivered less than a week later. I'm now wearing the best glasses I’ve ever had and a saving of over £350.
I wouldn't hesitate recommending them - from my order onwards they were in regular contact with me and were happy to answer any idiot questions I had.

I ordered glasses online from a different company and I was happy with them at the time but something was never quite right. I started working for an optician and he was teaching me to use a focimeter which checks the prescription on the glasses and it turned out that mine was outside the legal error bars compared to the prescription i'd sent. It wasn't a huge deal but a high street optician would have checked this before they dispensed them.

I have used www.irisoptical.co.uk for the past few years, and have found them to be quite cheap compared to high street opticians. I have quite a strong prescription as I am extremely myopic, and I was able to get a pair of designer spectacles with high index lenses for less than the price I was quoted for the lenses alone by a high street store!

Name names- I wanna know who are charging what- I agree some services are better then others (for example, where I live there are 3 specsavers in close proximity to me, I have had heard back from more friends and people I can count on two hands who have had bad glasses back from them. I shop at Vision Express as a result- and have not a bad word to say about the service and quality personally, but they do charge an arm and a leg! I can only afford to get glasses every 4 or 5 years!).

I would worry about getting glasses online as I like to get them fitted to my face and the prescription for my eyes is an odd one as I have bad eye problems.

Hi am new to this so sorry if repeating. I have very high prescription -10 in both eyes, astigmatism etc. Need new glasses but lenses alone over £300. HAs anyone used plastic lenses at this prescrition as have hugh mark on nose where glasses dig in as so heavy - have ultra thin Zeiss 1.9 glass lenses so cannot go any thinner with glass. Also any suggestions on online - would they be cheaper and could they meet my prescription. Thank you for any ideas. AM very short of money and £10 voucher for glasses when is nothing. But hey I am lucky can see.

Under the distance selling Act you are protected as a Consumer. The trading law states that because you can't inspect the product before you purchase then you can return it within 7 days and this should include glasses so think you should be ok.
