Anyone used wooden-blinds-direct?

Hi
Just wondering if anyone had ordered wooden blinds from https://www.wooden-blinds-direct.co.uk?
I ordered a few samples of wood and when they arrived a couple of samples were completely split down the centre grain. I'm a little concerned that this might be an indication of the quality of the wood used, plus the fact they are considerable cheaper than any other company i've looked at for made to measure blinds.
I would really appreciate any experience anyone has of this company - good or bad (don't want to order several sets of blinds and end up very disappointed!)
Thanks

Hi, not used them but was a blind man for 12 years. Most suppliers offering cheap wood venetians buy standard sizes and the cut them to customers sizes on request. This is done with a band saw and as the cords are made to run 160-200mm from edge, one size can be cut to many. I have recently fitted IKEA ventians in wood for a neighbour, and they wern't half bad. They can be cut with a hacksaw if you bind them closed (tight) with gaffer tape, cut equal amounts from each side, and rub some olive oil into th ends to seal and darken. Price about a /5th of " custom" blinds. More advise about measuring and fitting if needed. Oh and yes, if the samples are split..... they are probably those off cuts I mentioned above..0
