I think there is about 7 months left on the sky and roughly 12months left on the vodafone. I know the vodafone will be sky high to cancel. I know its a bit silly but I have stopped going out completlyeven to eat with the OH so we have sky as were in all the time now!0

Been thinking about this and ways to potentiall cut down on your travel costs. I know you mentioned you had a car? And I don't know if this would be of help - but many people have them for a variety of reasons - but it may be worth your while checking out this scheme with your local council:
national concessionary buspass
It's called by different names by different councils eg NOW CARD as some here may be familiar with. But it's a free bus pass. Though, it would depend if you were elligible. I held back from mentioning it before because I don't want to give anyone false hope if you see what I mean? I have one for example. As I rely on public transport all the time. So, I can go wherever I want (within reason) in the UK between set times, weekends all inclusive free travel. Just thought to mention it. If you ever use rail, it may also be possible to get a percentage off rail fares. Again, may not be suitable but may be helpful for anyone reading the tread, too.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

How old are you Ollie if you don't mind me asking? How much does your OH earn and how old's she? Just wondering if you're entitled to any benefits - have you checked? No longer using this account for new posts from 20130

Hi Ollie
Can you confirm that out goings like gas, electric, TV Licensee and Sky is only the half you pay.
Ie. The gas and electric are, per month, £38.50 each.
£60 a month for clothing is a lot of money. What are you buying?
Is there anyway you can give someone a lift to work or that can give you a lift. It would cut your fuel bill.
It is very admirable that you take the time to see you mum most days but walk round to see her or get a bike. Family and friends can always come and see you instead of you going to see them. That too would save money on you fuel bill.
I believe Sky are offering a Sky Plus box for £49 and free installation. If you are renting your box, you are paying £10 a month to do so. After five months you will be saving £10 a month, if that is the OH lets you keep their half.
I have Virgin Media and it has three starter packages. Medium, large and XL. If I was strapped for cash, I could downgrade from large to medium. Can you do the same with Sky and if you have any premium channels, getting them removed would also save you some money.
Is there any chance of you being able to get a weekend/evening job.
Would your OH be willing to, financially, help you to get rid of your debts. I know it is not their debt but these debts are going to put a strain on you and in turn that will put a strain on your relationship. It could even break it.
Having arrears on a credit card is one thing but do not miss payments on the mortgage. Negative equity or not, you will still loose the flat if you start to build up arrears on the mortgage.
Have you tried to apply for Tax Credits or Council Tax Benefit.0 -

Hi all thanks for all your suggestions. I am 24 years old and not entitled to a bus pass as i'm not getting any benefits nor am i entitled to anything. I am trying to cut down my fuel costs but the sad truth is that i need my car to get to work and back otherwise i'd not have one. I will not allow for the mortgage to slip hence why i am not paying my credit cards and loan!
I'm paying slightly higher gas and electric because we had been under paying for about 2 years and no one picked it up and increased the DD!0 -

It's not just for people on benefits. Anyway, no matter. Just thought I'd mention it, as is useful for anyone else.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own.
