what are you actually trying to do yourself? build the entire website?

there are so many things out there you can use to build the website yourself, the best program i use is by far dreamweaver, you can download a trial copy from the adobe website

then do a google search for free css templates, you can then open these in dreamweaver and if you edit it in the design section, its just like amending a document.

then to upload to your server the change, make sure you are connected by using a username and password as well as the ftp hostname and its a s easy as that really

Shell did you get anywhere with meta tags? I am looking through these forums trying to find out how to climb up the rankings, but am not having much success at the moment.
To be honest building a website is not something I am enjoying at all, I have no interest in it, but it's one of those things that have to be done!!!
If you've got an 'idiots guide' on how to get up the rankings I'd be grateful for some advice.

rankings - good keyword searchs do help but arent the top priority, if you can get some links pointing to your website from highly ranked sites that will help you can offer to exchange a link in return, sign up to all the internet directories you can for free (FREE DO NOT PAY FOR ANY), submit a sitemap to google, if you create a google account there is loads of tools for webmasters (yes you designed your own site so your the webmaster !!!) it will help checking your site for errors too
