Going to USA in sept-oct

Hi all,

we are heading for a wedding in end sept. 2006 early oct (15 days). we have lot of friends and family to visit. our planned route is verginia / New York/ Chicago/ Seatle/ Atlanta/ Verginia and back.

we are going as a family (4 adult / 1 4yr old). since its a busy period can u please recomend cheap flights. do you recon i get the domestic flights tkts from USA. the cheapest i got LHR/IAD return as 378 on Virgin. i am Virgin flying member but cannot earn miles as in this sector there's no air miles.

also i need to get some idea of places to visit on this route.

hope to hear from you all. as this trip is becoming costly!!!!!!!!

cheers

    When and where's the wedding?

'Low season' (cheaper flights) kick in around mid October so if you can start your journey then you may save ££££.

Contact Trailfinders and get them to price an itinerary.

You are travelling a long way to Seattle compared to Virginia\Georgia\New York.

Do you have to do the trip in any order?

You may be able to get a FREE stopover in your first point of call in US so for example you could fly to Seattle with a FREE stopover on Chicago on the way out.

You could then return from Seattle with a FREE stopover in New york.

Look at this post about BMI credit card miles and how to get a single flight anywhere in the US.

Look at the possibillity of using Virgin FF miles on their partner airlines for a quick return

    AMERICA WEST AIRLINES
Short haul flights under 750 miles: Within contiguous United States

    Economy Class Mileage*

    15,000

Good site for finding budget airlines in the world.

    Thanks blindman,

the wedding is on 1st oct in NY. the schedule is 29th sept - 14th oct.

the idea of free stop over is very inviting. i need to really work it out before i make any decision.

    cheers

I know American Airlines allow free stopvers so I assume other US carriers do too.

The cost of a flight is usually determined by the arrival airport distance so Seattle is more expensive than New York.
However the return leg distance doesn't usually bump up the cost.

With this is mind and using the BMI miles info you can also factor in 'Open Jaw' tickets as per my link above.
