HSBC... ho ho ho ! You will no doubt get loads of calls from overseas call centres and get totally fed up of repeating the same old thing every time.
CCCS (Consumer Credit Counselling Service) have a website, it's worth looking at, then give them a ring. And welcome to the DFW family. One life - your life - live it!0 -

Phone them Monday, explain to them the situation, then they will make an appointment with one of their counsellors who will go through everything with you like I mentioned before. Let CCCS tell you what you can reasonably afford from your budget info. Now, it's likely they are pretty snowed under - because I was told by an operator there last year they had to open or get more staff due to the financial crisis, more demand etc - but the sooner you make contact etc. Because it can take a few weeks before a counsellor can get back to you. But they phone you at a time suitable to you usually. So you know you'll be in when they do.
Oh, yes, I know. Why as Nargleblaster said, having them on your side is better. The other thing is creditors are more likely to behave once they see CCCS has got involved.
thanks for the advice mate.0 -
Oh, one further thing I missed out which will help you further down the line. Is I would request your credit card CCA off whomever has your account now. It's just one more way of protecting yourself should any DCA start getting heavy with you.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

I can also highly highly recommend CCCS, they helped me sort out my dmp a couple of years ago. They are really lovely and very helpful.
It also gives you something constructive to say when you get the nasty calls. I don't get many anymore (thank god) but the few I do I simply talk over them telling them I'm on a DMP with CCCS and to contact them if they have any queries.
I promise you won't regret phoning them, good luck
