Holiday to New Orleans

Hi

Im looking to book a holiday for 2 adults to New Orleans for 10/14 days (depends on how much we can afford!). Travel dates are from 10-04-2006 with 3 days flexibility either way.

Can anyone please advise the best sites to use. Also is it normally better to book a package or flights/hotels seperately?

TIA Kelly x

Its a fabulous place to visit ~ I was there 5 years ago and would love to go back. We stayed in the French Quarter in a beautiful old hotel. I would book separate flights and hotels, its much easier to shop around and get something to suit you both.

BBC Holiday programme did a piece last week.

10\14 days is too long in the Big Easy.

Plan about 5 days max (no car-parking is awful!) then hire a car to see other sites.

    Tour ideas

Nottoway Plantation. Swamp tours, Voodo tours

    MardiGras World.

Book flights independantly and book Hotels through Priceline or Hotwire.

Look at Tripadvisor for good hotels.

Look at these sites for info.

Betterbidding for both Hotwire and PL hotels won.

BiddingforTravel for PL only but a bigger database.

I stayed at the Omni Royal Hotel in Nov 2003 for £30 per room\night on a PL bid.

Great place, the French Quarter was not damaged by Katrina\riots.

Thanks for your concern nelly but as Sheel says most of the distruption that occured has been cleared away! :)

The main reason for the visit is to visit friends. Thanks for the advice Philippa and blindman. I like the idea of staying around 5 days in NO then travelling around. Cant wait to get home from work to start my research!

We got married there in 1998, got off the plane and found a great hotel in the French Quarter on the boards at the airport.

We went on a grand tour of the South and just stopped where ever for our honeymoon...planning to go back fore our tenth anniversary.

It's alovely city hope it has been restored have a great time.
